Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ümit Alakuş is a physician with a rich educational background and experience in the field of general surgery.
Assoc. started his education at Gülhane Military Medical Faculty. Prof. Dr. Ümit Alakuş completed his medical education at this prestigious institution. Later, he started his specialty training in the Department of General Surgery at Gülhane Military Medical Academy and improved his knowledge and skills in general surgery. He also received training at the same university’s Department of Gastroenterology Surgery, which helped him gain expertise in digestive system surgery.
He started his career within the General Staff at the 3rd Mountain Commando Brigade in Şemdinli / Hakkari between 2005 and 2007. Later, he served in the 39th Mechanized Infantry Battalion of the Turkish Cypriot Peace Forces of the General Staff and was in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. During this process, he had the opportunity to apply his medical knowledge and experience in practice.
After completing his specialist training at Gülhane Military Medical Academy, he worked as a General Surgery Specialist at Elazığ Military Hospital. He also served as the President of the Kosovo Turkish Representation Delegation. Between 2015 and 2018, he received subspecialty training in Gastroenterology Surgery at GATA.
After working at Batman Regional State Hospital at the Ministry of Health, he worked at the General Surgery and Gastroenterology Surgery Clinic at Health Sciences University Gülhane Training and Research Hospital between 2020-2023. He was entitled to receive the title of associate professor in 2023 and retired at his own request in the same year.
He currently works at Egepol Hospital and continues to assist his patients with his extensive surgical knowledge and experience.
